Overview of key activities
- Civil War in Yorkshire — initial discussion group followed by visits to local Civil War sites, a walk in York, and the Royal Armouries in Leeds.
- Local History — focus on Easingwold and Malton with guided visits.
- Maritime Hull — a big year for Hull; we plan at least one full‑day visit.
- Churches Group — separate programme in development; a highlight will be the Sykes Churches Trail in the Wolds, possibly including Sledmere.
- Heritage Open Days — we will try to take part in events around York in September.
Meetings and travel
- When: Normally the third Thursday of the month.
- Time: Morning or afternoon depending on venue and member availability.
- Hull visit: Full‑day trip.
- Travel: Where possible we will car share or use local buses.
Help needed
As always, we need members to help with planning and running activities: organising transport, leading visits, suggesting topics, and leading discussion groups. I have limited knowledge of the Civil War and will rely on members to contribute expertise and leadership.
